Asau Port, Samoa, was intended to be part of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative expansion. Tim Tufuga

Asau Port, Samoa was amongst the intended Chinese Strings of Pearl Chinese Blue Water Ports, as part of the Chiense Belt and Road Initiative. The Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) Government had intended to construct a Chinese Port in Asau Port. (My ancetral land).

Australia and USA had ensured that the Tulagi Island, Solomon Island Chinese commercial and military port would not be constructed. Likewise with the Asau Port, Savai'i Island, Samoa, would also be prevented from progressing by the current FAST Samoan Government.

AUKUS and QUAD member Nations headed by the Anglo American Nations, Australia, Britain and The United States of America, would ensure that China would not be premitted to expand their Blue Water ambitions to the Pacific Islands. Solomon Islands had resisted the Anglo Americans but Samoa was to remain a pro Chinese Pacific Island Nation, until, the Human Rights Protection Party was replaced by an anti-Chinese FAST Political Party.

It appears that China will have to await a change of Government for the question of the Chinese Belt and Road, as well as, the Chinese Blue Water Navy Fleet are able to consider Samoa as a potential friendly port of call essential for the Chinese commercial trade and the Chinese People Liberation Army Navy Blue Water Vessels to replenish supplies for their Naval Surface Vessels and Submarines.

In 2030 and beyond, Samoa will be regarded as strategically important for China for the Belt and Road Initiative and of course for the Blue Water Chinese Fleet. My ancestral Village of Asau, will be considered as a highly sought after Savaii Harbour as considered by the Chinese Government.

Tim Tufuga.
